Google
Largest collection of web pages of any crawler-based search engine. Google provides results to a number of search engines and directories such as Yahoo. Offers two types of paid listing, Premium Sponsorship, which enables a site to get listed at the top of the relevant search results and AdWords, which puts your information on the right hand side of the page.

HotBot
HotBot's results comes from alltheweb, Google, Inktomi and Teoma. Searches each search engine separately.

MSN
Results from Overture / Yahoo Search but will be changing in coming months.

Netscape Search
Netscape Search's results come primarily from the Open Directory, followed by Google.

SiteMatch
Currently provides search results to (amongst others!) About, AltaVista, HotBot, Overture, Espotting, Lycos and MSN, AllTheWeb.

DMOZ
Major directory, that feeds number of search engines throughout the web, such as Google and AOL.

Yahoo
Yahoo is the oldest major web site directory and is compiled by editors. Results are backed by Yahoo SiteMatch.

Overture
Know as the Godfather of paid placement search engines.

Espotting
Provide pay-per-click inclusion into a number of search engines and portals
