Types of Disability

There are a wide range of disabilities that accessibility testing covers.

Disabilities covered by accessibility testing
  • Vision- this includes all types of vision problems from colour blindness, to partial vision, tunnel vision to zero vision; This also includes those who suffer from epilepsy;
  • Hearing- this includes deafness or difficulty in hearing audio online; Motor- physical impairments such as a delayed response time or unable to make small movements. Can also include inability to use mouse;
  • Cognitive- includes learning problems such as attention deficiency, memory problems, dyslexia and an inability to understand the basics of a website;
  • Literacy- English or the language of the website is not the primary language of the reader, very basic reading skills that detrimentally affect ability to understand website.
