Accessibility Checklist
If you are checking your website for
accessibility issues, make sure you check your website against our checklist.
What accessibility issues to look out for:

Use standard HTML for structure not the style- use style sheets;

Special information in a format that requires a plug-in must be available in HTML;

Use descriptive and meaningful alt tags for images;

All audio should have a transcript or any information provided by any none text means should be provided using text;

Be consistent through out the website;

Build keyboard alternatives into your page;
-
Use tables and frames with caution;
-
Ensure text contrasts with the background;
-
Only use commonly used fonts;
-
Forms of navigation should be available for users who cannot use pointing devices;
-
Keep pages simple ;
-
Keep the number of images to a minimum;
-
Do not rely on colour to convey information;
-
Use only clear commonly used fonts;
-
A consistent text navigation bar should be used along with a skip navigation link;

Other forms of navigation should be available for users who cannot use pointing devices;
-
All web pages must comply with the requirements of the World Wide Web Consortiums Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) "A" Standard;

Check that the site can be used with out the use of a mouse;

Check that there is a site map;
-
Make sure all links make sense;
-
Check forms are accessible;
-
Check that text can be resized;
- Listen to a video or audio with no volume
