Useful Industry Information
Republic of Ireland Online Behaviour
A recent Irish Internet Association survey revealed some interesting facts
about web usage in the Republic of Ireland:
Of the responses:
54% have Broadband connection;
7% are wireless;
32% had an ISDN line
7% use dial up connections.
82% indicated have net connection at home.
The web is most usually used for:
travel (86%)
books & CDs (61%)
Interestingly, the report also researched the usage of the web by business.
Some facts:
13% had undertaken email campaigns
8% used search engine optimisation

Offline shops 'miss out'
British companies are missing out a potential share of £1.5bn by failing
to sell their products online, a new study by Startups.uk reveals.
Shoppers prefer to buy online, and with an estimated £1.5bn to be generated
by online sales this year, too many firms are failing to claim their share,

France pushes plans for a European competitor to Google
France is still pushing for a European competitor to the US online search
engine operator Google.
French president Jaques Chirac is planning a digitization of European libraries
in an attempt to challenge the dominance of Anglo-saxon culture online. He
hopes the project will rival Google Print.
