Internet Marketing
It stands to reason that internet marketing is a growth industry. More products are bought and sold online every year, and some industries such as books are seeing online booksellers outselling high street retailers. So, an online presence is crucial for big businesses, and smaller businesses wanting to stay competitive.
A good marketing campaign should of course target the desired audience on many levels, but with smaller businesses this is not always possible, or practical. Take for example a small bed and breakfast in the country somewhere. Perhaps they’re near to some good fishing lakes and rivers. Where do they advertise? They can put their details in the Yellow Pages, and in fishing magazines, but the expense might not justify the return of business. With more and more people using search engines to find what they’re looking for, internet marketing is very relevant for our small B&B.
Say our B&B is in Norfolk. People typing in generic terms such as ‘fishing’, ‘bed and breakfast’ and ‘accommodation’ online have not decided where they’re going yet. An internet marketing campaign can be useful to our small business with these terms, but the expense to get them high up in the positions is probably not worth it.
Far better for the B&B to focus on more specific internet marketing, and target their campaign towards ‘fishing Norfolk’, ‘bed and breakfast Norfolk’ and ‘Accommodation Norfolk.’ More specific, it’s cheaper to get right to the top with such search terms, generating more business and justifying the expense of the marketing work. It is advisable to get a good Internet Marketing Agency on board for projects like this, as, like in every industry, there are sharks out there.
